Inner City Waldorf School

This project was a competition entry. The charge was to design a Waldorf school to be located on a site south of Downtown Minneapolis not far from the Mississippi River. The notion of nurturing young minds and bodies toward maturity gave way to imagery of butterflies; creatures known for their beauty and transformational nature. The roof is meant to symbolize the underside of butterfly wings. After submitting the entry, it became clear that the underside of the roof should have been shown as being clad with colorful tiles like the scales of butterfly wings.
