Island Addition

Relegated to schematic design, this project looked to add more space to an existing iconic A-shaped home located on Madeline Island, Wisconsin. The purity of the existing home's form called for a response that either mimicked it or drastically departed from it. Studies were done looking at both options with the final decision being that mimicry was the best. Instead of trying to resist the 'awkward' spaces that arise in the upper levels of such forms, the project embraced and celebrated them. The project was authored by Joe while employed with CF Design.
