Wedge

Relegated to schematic design, this home proposal is sited directly on the shore of Lake Superior, just north of Duluth, MN. The architecture is a geometric play that takes the site's two-dimensional wedge shape and transforms it into a three-dimensional wedge form that mutates along its length. The living space on the ground level has large windows that look out onto the lake. In addition to two small bedrooms on the upper level, a sitting room with an amazing view of Duluth's iconic lift-bridge is expressed as a giant square window, a simple geometric form that resonates with the simple geometric forms of the lake's lighthouses.
